Gatsby's Funeral

The only people who attend Gatsby's funeral are Nicks, Owl Eyes, Wolfshiem and Gatsby's father. Most Gatsby's so-called friends don't show up. There are a few reasons for this. It's possible that Daisy told Tom that it was actually her who was driving so they skipped town because they didn't want to have anything to do with Gatsby. They didnt want to have any ties with Gatsby that could lead the death of Myrtle to be traced back to themselves. Wolfshiem didn't attend because he believed you should know someone and value their life when they're alive then do nothing when they are dead. ANother reason he might not have gone was because he was involved in shading dealings with Gatsby and didn't want to have anything to do with him. Gatsby's father came because, through his eyes, Gatsby represents an accomplishment. Unlike himself,  Gatsby became successful.

Ch. 7/8 Climax

I scratched the surface of the events that foreshadowed the climax in chapters 7 & 8 in my last post. Past events that could have hinted towards this happening was the convenient timing of Nick revealing, to the reader, the true identity of Jay Gatsby. However, one could have depicted this as something totally different than foreshadowing. It could have signified that Gatsby would be leaving soon or it could've meant that Nick just simply wanted to tell us at that moment. Another event that might have showed us that Wilson was going to kill Gatsby was right when Wilson's wife, Myrtle, was killed instantly by a yellow car. You could tell that Wilson wasn't handling himself appropriately. He was unstable and seemed a bit crazy- that kind of psycho killer crazy. You could have guess by the way Wilson was behaving that he might attempt to get revenge on the person who murdered his wife.

The Truth About Gatsby

Gatsby tells everyone lies about his past because he is embarrassed to tell the truth. He tells lies because most people that have the amount of wealth he has come from more sophisticated background. He wasnt born wealth like Tom or even obtain his wealth in a legal way.
Nick waits to tell us this information about Gatsby because, maybe, he wanted us to know the truth before something bad happens. This might be foreshadowing the death of Gatsby. Also, he wanted us to hear all the rumors about Gatsby so we would read on to find out who he actually is.

Enchanted Items

Nick says that Gatsby's enchanted objects has diminished by one because he(Gatsby) has started to realize what's truly important to him. Gatsby is one of those people that value their possessions and puts alot of work into getting those possessions. In fact, he says that it took him a whole 3 years to buy his house. When he shows Daisy his house he shows her all his cool stuff he has and brags about it. The reason Nick says what he says is because he noticed a  change in Gatsby's manner. Instead of being so dependent on things, Gatsby has started to focus on the things that really matter in his life. He has put his focus on Daisy. She's like a gateway to take Gatsby from his old boastful self to the new Gatsby that cares and doesnt brag about all his stuff.
