Ch. 7/8 Climax
I scratched the surface of the events that foreshadowed the climax in chapters 7 & 8 in my last post. Past events that could have hinted towards this happening was the convenient timing of Nick revealing, to the reader, the true identity of Jay Gatsby. However, one could have depicted this as something totally different than foreshadowing. It could have signified that Gatsby would be leaving soon or it could've meant that Nick just simply wanted to tell us at that moment. Another event that might have showed us that Wilson was going to kill Gatsby was right when Wilson's wife, Myrtle, was killed instantly by a yellow car. You could tell that Wilson wasn't handling himself appropriately. He was unstable and seemed a bit crazy- that kind of psycho killer crazy. You could have guess by the way Wilson was behaving that he might attempt to get revenge on the person who murdered his wife.

I like Jim's response to this one cause he has some interesting ideas here. I would have never thought of calling Nick's revealing of Jay's real character foreshadowing, but the way he has said it here, makes it seem like he is putting Gatsby on his death bed. Now, because the way he put it, i believe this is a valid act of foreshadowing.
thanks eli
