Beowulf 2

Wiglaf’s character is very similar to Beowulf as one would assume since he is Beowulf’s go to man. He was the only person who stayed with Beowulf to the end. While the others fled, fearing the dragon’s might, Wiglaf stayed his ground, and defended his great leader. Wiglaf wounded the dragon allowing for Beowulf to finish it off. During this battle, Wiglaf showed courgae, bravery, and heroism just as his leader required of him. And even after the battle with the dragon, Wiglaf continued to show his heroism and honor by carrying out Beowulf funeral pyre requests. After Beowulf’s passing, I saw some values that were different than Beowulf. Beowulf was a great warrior who gave to his people. He was a brute. Wiglaf, a warrior too, began to show great wisdom after the great battle. He foresaw the future. Because of Beowulf’s death, he knew that other kingdoms would try to conquer the Geatland. Wiglaf assumed leader of the Geats and immediately began acting as a good king would.
