An Interesting Passage

A passage I found interesting was the first paragraph of chapter 10. The reason i found this interesting was because it showed the persistence of slave owners and to what extent they will go just to get what they want. It showed how greedy they are. Dr. Flint was willing to go out of his way to build a separate house for he and Linda just so he could be with her. This paragraph also shows that even though Linda was a slave she still had morals and ethics. She was never going to submit herself to Dr. Flint even if it meant her freedom. She says, "I had rather live and die in jail, than drag on, from day to day, through such a living death." Linda would rather die than to live with a man such as Dr. Flint even if she was free.
